The beginning of the good news about Jesus the Messiah, the Son of God, as it is written in Isaiah the prophet:
“I will send my messenger ahead of you, who will prepare your way”
“a voice of one calling in the wilderness,
‘Prepare the way for the Lord, make straight paths for him.’ Mark 1:1-3
[ Jesus the Messiah, the Son of the Living God…..how on earth do you make straight paths for Him ? )
The Message Bible says it this way “ The good news of Jesus Christ - the Message! - begins here, 2 following to the letter the scroll of the prophet Isaiah. Watch closely: I'm sending my preacher ahead of you; He'll make the road smooth for you.”
The Good News Bible says it this way “ Someone is shouting in the desert, "Get the road ready for the Lord; make a straight path for him to travel!' " “
So which is it ? will the preacher make a way for Jesus to travel on or will we ? . . . . . I say Both.
This is applicable to each of us, we rely on pastors, preachers and teachers to level the ground for us so we can see clearly, but there are many many times in our lives where we have to do our own excavation.
You can’t see over a mountain. If something is blocking your view to God, it has to be leveled
The future is hard to see, your destiny is hard to see when the view is obstructed by massive mounds of whatever (be it sin that so easily entangles, addiction, pride, co-dependance, bitterness, unforgiveness) Sometimes we just have to heed the word of the Lord, get out the shovels and the heavy equipment and start removing the mountain, piece by piece bit by bit, until we have a clear view of the glorious future He intends for us to have and to see. . . .
my prayer for you today: May all your shovels be sharpened ( it’s easier to dig when the tools in good repair) and if they are not - take them to the shop and let iron sharpen iron (ie: get in the presence of another believer and Believe together). Sharpen your tools and get to the task. Prepare the way for the Lord in your own life and others will see it and pull out their shovels too……kinda like spring fever - your neighbor plants flowers and it looks so good you have to too!…….]
